Srinagar, January 17 (KNO): Muslim League Jammu Kashmir spokesman on Thursday said that Masrat Aalam was brought to Srinagar from Kotbhalwal Jail to appear before the CJM Srinagar for an FIR no. 50/2010 lodged against him by Kothibagh Police station. “The next hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on 30.01.2019. After the hearing, Masarat Aalam was taken back to Kotbhalwal Jail Jammu,” he said in a statement issued to KNO. Referring to prolonged and ‘unlawful’ detention of Masarat Aalam, ML spokesman said, “Aalam is languishing in jail since long, however, it is quite disheartening that he is being subjected to vengeance by state authorities.” According to party spokesman, “the administration has made its mind to place Masrat Alam behind bars and it is using PSA and other baseless charges as a tool otherwise courts have repeatedly quashed his detention and directed his release but the administration is adamant on placing him in far off jails" Sajad Ayoubi said that "putting Masrat Aalam in jails on concocted charges and slapping repeatedly public safety acts (PSA) on him to prolong their incarceration is nothing but a travesty of Justice and democracy." He said Masarrat Aalam has been booked in fabricated cases. “A conspiracy is being hatched to keep him behind the bars. The authorities don’t want to free him. There is no justification to keep him behind the bars. New ways and means are being devised to harass and intimidate Masarrat Aalam, but he will never succumb,” the spokesman maintained.(KNO)
